The Lesson of the Week is a national campaign that provides teachers and students access to quality educational resources designed to improve the reading and writing skills of K–8 students. Disseminated electronically via e-mail, RSS, video widget, and through our free web portal at www.schoolwidenetwork.com, the Lesson of the Week is designed to give teachers meaningful and manageable content and practical lesson plans they can use immediately to improve students' performance. "While politicians and organizations discuss where and to whom funding should go . . . , we thought we'd develop a useful way to give teachers access to quality lesson plans they can use right away."
Each weekly lesson is built around unique digital and written content from today's leading authors and educators. Broken down into 5–6 simple steps, the Lesson of the Week helps teachers utilize best-in-breed education techniques with minimal prep time. By utilizing digital media such as video to add another dimension to the reading and writing lessons essential to academic success, the Lesson of the Week helps teachers achieve their 21st century learning objectives. And each lesson is easily accessible and perfect for use with Smartboards, interactive whiteboards, or PCs.

Because technology can't replace good teaching. Because teachers are busy. Because we want to save teachers time. With all of the testing benchmarks and other pressures facing teachers today, we wanted to give them something simple, useful, research-based, and most of all, fun. A weekly lesson seemed like the best way to accomplish this. And while politicians continue to bicker, students still need to learn.
