Schoolwide Network Privacy Notice

The Schoolwide Network Privacy Policy describes how Schoolwide Network and its parent corporation, affiliates, and subsidiaries treat personal information when you use Schoolwide Network and its services. In addition, the following describes privacy practices specific to Schoolwide Network.

Personal Information

§  Browsing Schoolwide Network Personal information is not collected unless you sign up for a Schoolwide Network account. You may watch videos and access printable content on Schoolwide Network without having a Schoolwide Network account. You may also contact us through the Schoolwide Network Help Center or by e-mailing us directly without having an account.

§  Your Schoolwide Network Account. For some services offered by Schoolwide Network such as uploading videos or printable content, posting comments, flagging videos, or watching restricted videos, you must have a Schoolwide Network account. We request some personal information when you create an account, including your e-mail address and a password, which are used to protect your account from unauthorized access.

§  Usage Information. When you use Schoolwide Network we may record information about your usage of the site such as the channels, groups, and favorites you subscribe to, other users you communicate with, the videos you watch, the printable content and other information you access, the frequency and size of data transfers, and information about yourself that you provide on the Schoolwide Network site. If you have a Schoolwide Network account and are signed in, we may associate that information with your account. In order to ensure the quality of our services, we may place a tag (also called a "web beacon") in HTML-based customer support e-mails or other communications with you in order to confirm delivery.

§  Content Uploaded to Site. Any personal information or content that you voluntarily disclose and/or provide on the Schoolwide Network site (e.g., your account profile, comments, videos, and print material) may be accessed and used by others.

Use of Information

§  If you submit personal information to Schoolwide Network, we may use that information to operate, maintain, and/or improve the features and functionality of Schoolwide Network, and to process any flagging as inappropriate activity or other communication you send us.

§  We do not provide your e-mail address or other personal information to any commercial or marketing messages without your consent. We may use your e-mail address without further consent for non-marketing or administrative purposes such as notifying you of major Schoolwide Network changes or for customer service purposes.  

§  We use cookies, web beacons, and log file information to: (a) store information so you will not have to reenter it while using the Schoolwide Network web site or the next time you visit the site, (b) provide custom, personalized content and information, (c) monitor the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns, (d) monitor aggregate metrics such as the total number of visitors and pages viewed, and (e) track your entries, submissions, and status in promotions, sweepstakes, and contests.

Information That Is Available to All Users

§  When you set up a Schoolwide Network account, some information about your account and your account activity will be available to other users of Schoolwide Network. This may include the date you set up your Schoolwide Network account, the date you last signed in to your account, your age (if you’ve included it in your account profile), the country, and the number of videos and printed content you have viewed/accessed.

§  Your Schoolwide Network account name is displayed to other users when you use some of the services offered on Schoolwide Network such as when you upload content. Your e-mail address is not displayed.

§  Any content that you submit to Schoolwide Network may be redistributed through the Internet and other media channels, and may be viewed by other Schoolwide Network users or the general public.

§  You may also choose to add personal information such as your name, gender, profile, picture, or other details, which may be accessed by other users on Schoolwide Network. 

Your Choices

§  You may update or correct your personal profile information, e-mail preferences, and privacy settings at any time by visiting your "My Account" page.

§  You may, of course, choose not to provide personal information on the Schoolwide Network site, in which case you may still view videos and printed content and explore the Schoolwide Network web site, but Schoolwide Network may not be able to provide certain services and/or features to you. Some advanced Schoolwide Network features may include services such as Google AdSense. The privacy notices of these services (not those of Schoolwide Network) govern the use of your personal information associated with them.

§  You may control the information that is available to other users by editing your Schoolwide Network account and the features that are included on your profile page.

Advertising on Schoolwide Network

§  Schoolwide Schoolwide Network strives to provide you with relevant and useful advertising. We may use a range of information including cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, usage data, and other non-personal information about your computer or device (such as browser type and operating system) to provide you with relevant advertising. If you have a Schoolwide Network account and are signed in to your account, we may also show you advertising based on the information you have provided to us in your Schoolwide Network account.

§  Other third-party ad serving companies may display ads on Schoolwide Network, provided they comply with our ad serving requirements. Schoolwide Network does not provide any personal information to these third-party ad servers or ad networks without your consent. You should consult the respective privacy policies of these third-party ad servers or ad networks for more information on their practices and for instructions on how to opt-out of certain practices. Schoolwide Network's privacy policy does not apply to nor can we control the activities of or be responsible for such other advertisers or web sites. Any data obtained by third-party ad servers that is shared with Schoolwide Network is maintained and monitored by Schoolwide Network in accordance with this privacy policy.
